The South African Corporation of the New Church was established to look after the common interests of all the New Church societies, circles and groups in the Southern African region. As stated in the constitution of the Corporation:-

"The object of the corporation is to sustain and promote the beliefs and ideals of the General Church of the New Jerusalem (commonly known as the New Church) throughout South Africa, which include the worship of the Lord Jesus Christ as the one God of heaven and earth, the promulgation of the doctrinal teachings contained in the Theological Writings of Emanuel Swedenborg and confirmed and illustrated in the Old and New Testaments, and the establishment of educational institutions and facilities under the aegis of the said Church."

Specifically, the South African Corporation of the New Church provides a conduit through which the Bishop of the New Church can communicate with the members of the Church in Southern Africa, and through which New Church funds can be channeled for distribution to needy congregations. It also provides training for lay leaders when required.
The Corporation consists of 3 tiers:-

Office Bearers, responsible for the day to day activities of the Corporation.
Board Members, elected representatives from the affiliated Societies, responsible for deciding what the Corporation does.
Members, who are also members of the Societies, Circles and Groups affiliated to the Corporation, who elect the Board members.
